Reflection:
Series 2’s goal was to complete what I couldn’t do in Series 1. I really wanted to get the early morning light in for this assignment so we got up early enough to see golden hour at the Lanai Lookout off the Kalaniana’ole Highway. My main goal that morning was to get my favorite portrait look with a backlight from the sun. Initially, this is hard to do because the sun is such an intense light, especially in the morning. I think I was able to pull it off pretty well this time and after bringing up the shadows and turning the highlights down in my edits, I was able to make a very nicely exposed shot. One thing I would like to do differently for a portrait assignment like this is to have a longer lens with a larger aperture. Maybe something like a 50 f/ 1.4 would be ideal for portraiture.
