Multitrack Assignment Reflection
This assignment I found to be extra challenging, mainly because I had to do this group project on my own. One thing I would do differently if I had more time was to get more interviews from different types of people. I was limited to mostly interviewing experts and policy makers of my topic because they were the only interviewees I had time for. I was able to get some good soundbites from them but to make my story whole with only them, my track ended up being much longer than I wanted and I had to cut down almost 3 minutes of runtime to get closer to the 4-minute requirement. One thing I would do the same for next time is, have the same interview flow. This would mean, have my questions ready with potential follow up questions and follow up questions on the fly. I found it difficult to mix relevant nat sound with my A track. Even if I mixed it properly, the whole track would sound too busy and would distract from the A track. Another issue I encountered while asking my questions was, saying “uh” or “and” as a pause for thought with my questions. I did retrack everything I said in the interviews if they were part of the script. Retracking my soundbites after the interviews I think was a good idea because I could speak more clearly and use a better microphone.
